Status: Near Threatened (IUCN Red List)

Geoffroy's cats are from South America. They are fairly rare, though they do not need a great deal of territory, since they max out around 10 pounds.

In 2005, many major zoos decided to give their Geoffroy's cats away to people in the private sector, who have managed the studbook since then.

Today almost all of the Geoffroy's in captivity are held in private facilities.
