On January 2nd, Greg Cima and his crew from Cranberry Tree Farm brought us a truckload of unsold Christmas trees. The trees are great enrichment for our animal residents. They roll on them, drag them around, mark them, and go wild over the scent of pine. Greg always brings plenty of trees to provide enrichment for every cage and to allow us to replace trees that get whittled down to stubs by busy claws.
The Conservators' Center Tree Toss has become a holiday tradition for Greg's employees, and for our staff and volunteers. This year, for the first time, we invited the public to join the fun. Everyone enjoyed watching the lions, tigers, and wolves tussle with their new toys. The critters found their audience equally intriguing.
Thanks to Greg and his terrific crew, our wonderful volunteers, and the friendly visitors who came to watch the spectacle! Special thanks to photographer Abbie Cooke for her entrancing photos (look for her work throughout our website), and to reporter/producer Caroline Blair of News 14, who captured the spirit of the event with her marvelous story.
